CAIHS Monday Morning Message
February 18, 2024
Message from Mr. Maloney
Good Morning CAIHS Families,
A few reminders that will help us through the rest of the school year.
1. Congratulations to all of our teams moving onto District One Playoffs this past weekend and this upcoming week. Good luck and we look forward to watching you. If you have not had a chance to see any of our teams play, now is a great time to go out and support them.
2. Please remember that students start to enter the building at 7:05 and First Period starts at 7:15. I would highly recommend that if you are dropping your student off that is before 7:10 so that they can get to class on time.
3. When dropping off students please stay in a straight line and do not make a second line. This is dangerous as students have to cross between vehicles.
4. We have been completing daily and weekly Hall Sweeps because we are having students report late to class. Our goal is to have everyone in class and on time so that we can start instruction on time so that they can receive the most amount of instruction as possible. If we start instruction five minutes late everyday then they almost lose a Period's worth of instruction for each class a week. Time adds up.
Staff Member of the Month
Our staff member of the month of January is Mrs. Panasiewicz. Mrs. Panasiewicz won the award on her last day of school this year as she is going out on Maternity Leave!
Our staff member of the month is a great addition here at our school. She is very kind, pleasant to be around, positive, and very engaging with our students. If you had the opportunity to visit her class, you would witness "magic." Her class is alive, and students are engaged and working. Her room walls also demonstrate her creativity, subject matter, and most importantly, her students. In addition to providing a productive classroom environment, she is not a push over. She provides positive reinforcement, but also reminds the students that her classroom is a place for learning. Students are required to follow school's rules, which means No Cell Phones allowed. Finally, Mrs. Barnes had this to say about her:
"Ms. Panasiewicz is my nominee for staff member of the month. She always has her students engaged in her subject and is forever sharing her tools with her department. Way to go Ms. Pana!"

If a student misses 18 days of school and/or 9 days in a semester, and/or misses the same class 18 times, and/or is habitually late to school, he/she will be required to have a School Attendance Improvement Plan (SAIP) meeting. From the meeting, the team will discuss the student’s attendance and make a potential recommendation for retention or being held back.
In order to receive credit, a student must attend 90% of his/her class days.
If a student misses more than 10 lawful or unlawful absences, requires an excuse from a licensed practitioner of the healing arts or medical doctor.
A student can be retained for failing to show academic achievement for promotion.
Retention or being held back shall only be considered for the worst-case scenarios and parents/guardians will be notified and a part of the process.
